As a Believer God wants you to overcome temptation, Temptations is one of the reason why many believer in Christ are weak in the things of God, temptation can make one stop praying and fasting or studying the word of God.

Temptation comes from our Lust, what we wish or self gratification. If you can overcome your lust you have overcome temptation.
Temptation has a way of taking away your focus from the main thing. Many who are falling for temptation always have their focus on other things.

Temptation can come from different places, if you have a strong craving for money, temptation can come from there, if you have a strong craving for position, temptation can also come from there.

Jesus was tempted by the devil in Matthew 4, The first temptation that Jesus was given is that he should turn stone to bread. Jesus just finished a fasting and he was hungry, and he was tempted to turn stone to bread.

Note: God does not tempt people, God only tries people, temptation is different from trials.
Temptation is for the purpose for you to fall in it, why trials to check your level of capacity.

Overcoming temptation is very important to the beliver in Christ. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 any temptation God allows to come your way is because God has bring a way of overcoming the temptation.

You may feel that temptation you are facing some times is too big for you to overcome, but that is not true. base on the society we are in today, many are under the temptations to quit christianity and and follow the wrong way of life.

How To Overcome Temptation

For you to overcome temptation you must do this things listed below. Overcoming temptation is easy when you follow this steps.

1. Depend on God For Help: The first thing to do to overcome temptation is to depend on God, most people put their trust in man and self. They focus on self capacity only for that to fail them. When you out your strength in God, God will definitely help you and make you overcome. There are people who where very week, they where in the process to fall into temptation, but because of them depending on God, God created a way for them to overcome it. In depending on God it makes you to Pray to God for help and capacity to overcome. Some said they are depending on God yet they don’t pray, Prayer is a sign that you are not depend on your strength. Learn to pray and put everything in the hands of God. After prayer studying Gods word is also a sign you are depending on God. David said your word Lord Have i hidden in my heart that I may not sin against you. The word of God helps you to overcome. As the word of God comes into your heart it increase your capacity and your body comes under the authority of Gods word. In Matthew 4 Jesus use the scripture to overcome temptation brought to his after he fasted and prayed.
2. Refuse Giving Attention on Distractions: Control your thought, temptation cannot fully overcome you until it takes over your thought, have you ever sindhi video online or a picture, and you just suddenly begin to crave for what you saw, it is because what is took your attention and find his way into your thought. Any thought can come into your head but don’t allow it stay. Learn how to control your thought from distractions that will only end you up been tempted. Job in the bible said I made a covenant with my eyes that I will not look to lust upon a young woman, Job was trying to avoid temptation by controlling his thoughts.
3. Keep Godly Company: Your company matters when it comes to you overcoming temptation, many christians went back from christianity because of their friends and company.
   When you keep a Godly people around you, it helps you to be more strengthen to stand in Christ. In Psalm1:1-6 bible talks about the blessings of keeping the right people around you. Iron sharpens iron, Light and darkness has no relationship.
   Chose your company very well.
   When you are in the midst of temptation, it is your company that sometimes God will use to strengthen you and help you. It is bad for a believer in Christ to be in isolation, not to have partners or Godly company. If you are alone when you falls, nobody is there to encourage you to stand and keep moving. However that he/she attends your local church don’t mean that he is a true believer. Jesus said by their fruit ye shall know them, you must build a Godly company and that is one of the great way to overcome any temptation. If you can do this things, you would always overcome when Temptation comes.
