Our society today is filled so much social vice’s that people are beginning to think see nonconformity as weird. One of such menaces plaguing our society is the evil of side chick, which is a form of cheating and infidelity, now rebranded to give a more comfortable and suiting name.

There is a general saying that cheating is in the nature of every man. Married men in no longer see it as atrocious to be unfaithful in their relationships. Do you really expect them to stick to one woman?

These days, cheating is no longer a dealbreaker for many ladies because they believe that getting a faithful man in this dispensation is not common to save them from the future disappointment, they go into marriage with the mindset that their man has and will have a side chick in the future if he doesn’t have now.
What a high level of moral decadence we are dealing with. It wasn’t so from the beginning.

To begin with who is a side-chick? According to slang.net, side-chick is a woman intimately linked to a person already in a committed relationship, usually in secret. That means it’s a married man that leaves his wife to secretly start having affairs with another lady.

Is “Side-Chicking” Sinful?
There has been a lot of sayings by different segments of our society today which has thrown the body of Christ and the circular society into confusion as to if it is wrong for a married man to be having extramarital affairs.

In one of such statements, a man said that many Christians who don’t read their bibles do not know that there are notable men of God in the Bible who had concubines, which the modern parlance now is side-chicks. He mentioned Abraham (Genesis 25:6, 1 Chronicles 1:32), he mentioned another person, Gideon the military leader, judge and prophet (Judges 8:30 – 31). He went further to mention David (2 Sam 16:16, 22, 20:3), he also Solomon who had 700 wives and 300 concubines. Others include Rehoboam, Jacob.

After itemizing these six notable men of God, he concluded that “our wives should stop demonizing us whenever they hear about our side chicks. I think we need to rewind this matter and let our wives know that side-chicking is in our DNA and we inherited it from our forefathers”.

Another man said “wives, you should understand that men are hunters; if you see your husband with a woman, remove your eyes”. Another wonderful man added his voice to the matter by saying “side-chicks are part of the marriage. They are medium by which men grow longer, older and not die younger. Side-chicks are part of the marriage structure.

Women on the other hand are not left out in lending their voice to this matter. One of the women said “a side-chick is eating your remnant, act unbothered”. In other words, if you see your husband with a side chick, don’t act as if you know anything is going on. She went further to say that “women should cover their husband’s nakedness because there is no perfect man anywhere”. Which means every man has a side-chick.

I disagree! There are men on earth; laity who don’t have side-chick, and clergy who don’t have side-chicks. The last but not the least among the women who lent their voice was a young lady who said that without side-chicks, so many marriages would have been broken.

Having read all these, and seeing what it has also caused in our society today, I want to tell you what side-chick means. Side-chicking is a sinful extramarital relationship between a married man and a lady outside their marriage, contrary to the vow they made to keep their bodies to each other, in the presence of the everlasting covenant keeping God and in the presence of witnesses.
It is sinful.

If you have attended a marriage, you will hear them exchange vows like “I will keep my body for you and you alone until death separates us”. Now, if agreement is agreement, how come we are trying to have an exception with the topic of cheating? Is it now lawful to break a vow, promise, covenant, etc made even in the presence of so many witnesses?

I want to categorically say it that side-chicking is a sin of sexual immorality and adultery just as the Bible records in Galatians 5:19 – 21.

In 2 Timothy 2:19, the bible tells us that the foundation of God is unchanging. As His word has said it, so it is for eternity and no man can change it.

All that people are saying to justify extramarital affairs are will not change what God has said. Therefore, let everyone that names the name of God depart from iniquity.

Now, let us go back to the great men of God who people use for referencing today. I will pick Solomon and I will tell you what he has to say.

In Ecclesiastes 1:2, Solomon said “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.” Which means, the 300 concubines are vanity, the 700 wives are vanity.

So, you that is promoting side chicks, encouraging unfaithfulness in marriage by telling men to have more than one wife. Or you the lady, having sexual relationships with married men, Solomon is saying, all these are vanities.

Solomon counselled men with the following words:
“My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, and say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly. Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray”.
Prov 5:1 – 23 (KJV)

No matter how loving, glamorous and caring you think a side-chick is, remove your ways far from side-chick. God knows and sees everything you are doing. The earlier you retrace your steps, the earlier you will save your soul from the destruction that comes with having side-chicks.

It is not something that should be celebrated. You should be satisfied with the wife of your youth. Let your wife, let your husband, be enough for you. That is how God made it to be from the beginning. No one might have told you but God is using me to warn you, and keep you from the evil woman, from her flattering and lusting after her beauty.

Proverbs 6:24 – 29 (KJV) “To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent”.

The Solomon of old has given you counsel to desists because they were all in error and we cannot follow them. To the side-chicks who are going about scattering what God has joined together, let it be known to you today that God is not pleased with you and his wrath will come upon you, unless you repent and change your ways. What God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.
