Nigerian Lady Narrates How A Pastor Refused To Officiate At Her Sister’s Wedding Over Her ‘Ungodly’ Pre-Wedding Photos
Debbi Jegede, a Nigerian woman, has recounted how a pastor refused to officiate her sister’s wedding after deeming the couple’s pre-wedding photos “ungodly.”
Debbie, who disclosed this in a Facebook post on Saturday, July 26, said the couple had abstained from premarital s3x before and during courtship.
Sharing the ‘ungodly’ pre-wedding photos, Debbie said the highly respected Minister told her father that he was disappointed at his daughter and won’t be part of the ceremony.
“A Minister turned down the invitation to officiate at my sister’s wedding because of her pre-wedding photos. My father had sent out invitations to fellow ministers and they all gladly accepted. The joy was real. We were planning for a beautiful, God-honouring wedding,” she wrote.
These two amazing Abba’s children had kept themselves pure before and during courtship. We couldn’t wait to celebrate them on their big day.
Until one shocking call changed our initial plans.
One of the ministers, a highly respected one, suddenly withdrew his acceptance to officiate at the ceremony.
His reason? “I came across your daughter’s pre-wedding photos on Facebook. They’re ungodly. I won’t be a part of that ceremony.”
Just like that, he dropped the mic, withdrew his acceptance, and made it clear that he was disappointed at my sister for taking such photos.
He was supposed to be one of the key officiating ministers. We were stunned, pained, and disappointed too. Stunned because we saw nothing wrong with the photos.
Pained because it meant we had to start looking for another minister to take over the tasks delegated to him. Dad had to start thinking fast, who could fill in?
Disappointed because it felt more like he judged my sister wróngly.
Well, we moved on and thankfully, Dad got someone else.
The wedding held, and it was glorious. Life continued. He’s just one out of many who judge other ministers’ children. One minister even insinuated that I was sleeping around just because I looked fresh and beautiful.
My parents were embarrassed by his words. They couldn’t understand why he would even accommodate such ungodly thoughts.
A few years later. We saw this second same minister’s children posing for pictures on social media.
The pictures were terrible! Their outfits were ungōdly. One of his sons even had a tobacco in his mouth. I cringed.
Hypocrisy is loud among us and we really need to change. It’s ungōdly.
Judgment is cheap. It’s so easy to judge others until you have found yourself in their shoes.
This heaven we’re all aiming for, may we get there by God’s mercy.
There will be surprises on the last day. Yes! We will receive the shock of our lives.
The people we once called “sinners” might be seated comfortably at Jesus’ feet.
And the “saints” we praised may not even smell the pearly gates.
May we not hear Satan say, “So, you finally came here.”
Let him not welcome us with a smirk in hell.
God, help us make it to heaven, not only with a clean online image, but also with a clean heart. Amen!
