HIV-positive man accused of sexually assaulting 8-year-old boy; victim tests positive
A Florida man was charged after officials said he sexually assaulted a boy and gave him HIV.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Bobby McAffee was arrested Friday.

Detectives began their investigation on Aug. 23, 2024, after a victim reported a sexual assault that happened when he was 8 years old. Officials did not say how old the victim is now.
The alleged assault happened in unincorporated St. Petersburg.
Detectives said McAffee allegedly pinned the boy down on the ground, held both of his arms above his head, and sexually battered him.
On Friday, detectives interviewed McAffee, who admitted to having “sexual contact” with the victim.
The sheriff’s office said McAffee also admitted to having HIV. The victim recently found out he is HIV positive, officials said.
McAffee is charged with one count of sexual battery of a child less than 12 years old.
He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Saturday. According to jail records, he is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Officials said they would not release further information on the case in order to protect the victim.
