2027: South West PDP backs Tinubu for second term

LAGOS (CONVERSEER) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West has declared its support for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, made the announcement on Monday while presenting the party’s flag to Bolarinwa Oduwole, the PDP candidate for the August 16 Remo Federal Constituency by-election.
Ajisafe said the South West PDP unanimously resolved to support President Tinubu because he hails from the region, describing him as the “father of the nation.”
“Having supported former President Muhammadu Buhari for eight years, it is expedient to support one of our own for eight years. This is beyond party lines; it is a natural thing to do,” Ajisafe said.
Adebutu Calls for Credible Polls in Ogun
Speaking at the event, the PDP’s 2023 Ogun State governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, noted that while the party backed President Tinubu’s re-election, it remained opposed to what it described as bad governance in Ogun State.
“We are not opposed to the re-election of our president in 2027, we will fully support him, but he must allow a free, fair and credible election in Ogun State, starting from this bye-election. We are all his children,” Adebutu said.
The state chairman of the party, Abayomi Tella, inaugurated a 55-man campaign council and urged party supporters to mobilise for the polls and resist intimidation and harassment during the electoral process.
