One of the greatest benefits of our salvation in Christ Jesus is to hear God speak to us personally, for there to be intimate relationship with God, we must hear him and know how he speak to us.

The average Believer finds it easy to speak to God and finds it heard to hear the His voice. This is not the way the Lord intended it to be.

Jesus said in John 10:27 “My sheep hears his voice, and I know them and they follow me”
God can speak to you through a 3rd party like a prophet, your pastor or a fellow believer in Christ. But that is not God’s perfect plan for you, you can’t grow in Christ by depending on another for directions.
God didn’t give anyone the ministry to direct peoples lives, God can speak to you through others but God didn’t say anyone should go about directing peoples lives.

God wants all his children to hears his voice and follow him.

4 Major Ways God Speak to Us

Learning to clearly distinguish God’s voice is the will of God for everyone . Instead of going through life blindly, we can have the wisdom of God guide and protect us.

There are different ways God speak to his people personally but I am going to list 4 basic ways that God speaks to his people personally. When you know about this it would help you to discern when God is speaking to you.

1. The Word Of God: God speak through his word writing in scriptures, you can’t seek to hear God and not study his word.
   In every situation you are going through, God has said something about it and it is hidden in the scriptures. David said in Psalm 119:105 “they word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path”.
   The good part of always studying God’s word it helps us to know how to identify voices, If you hear voices or see a vision you would be able to know and judge if it’s from God.
2. Through The Inward Witness : The inward witness is one of the basic way God lead and talks to us, you just get a witness in your Spirit that this is what God is saying. It comes like a spiritual perception or knowing in your Spirit. Some believer would say I just knew on the inside of me this is what God is saying, that is the inward witness we are talking about. In Act 27:10 Paul heard from God through the inward witness, he was in a voyage and he perceived that a danger is on the way. ” And Paul said unto them, sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the landing and ship but also of our lives”. God spoke to Paul on their way to Rome through spiritual perception about the danger ahead that can be avoided if the people he was with listened to him.

3. Still Small Voice: Another way God speaks to us is through a still small voice, the voice comes with peace and authority. why Elijah was wanting for God to speak to him through a spectacular way in 1 kings 19:12, God spoke to him through a still small voice. Why there are conflict and worries everywhere, God can speak to you through a still small voice, you would know this is the voice of God.

4. Audible Voice of God: This is where God speaks to you audibly, you hear Himand you would know it is Him that is speaking. Through scriptures God spoke to many people through his audible Voice. in Act 10:19-20 Peter had a trance, why he thought on the trance, the Holy Ghost speaks to him, and it was audible. Also in Act 8:29 Philip the Evangelist the Holy Spirit Speaks to him audibly.

CONCLUSION: You have to build your relationship with God through studying God’s word and Prayers and also know how God speaks, so that when He speaks you would be able to recognize His voice.
You don’t decide how God will speak to you, but knowing how he speaks would help you recognize His voice.
